Documentation
highseas is a federated social and video platform you run yourself — plugged into the fediverse (ActivityPub) and the ATmosphere (AT Protocol) from day one. These docs cover how to stand up your own instance and how it connects to the wider decentralized web.
Two ways to run it
- Managed — let homeport.social run it for you. Sign up and go.
- Self-hosted — run highseas on a server you control. That is what these docs are about. Optional paid consultation is available if you want a hand.
Where to start
- Self-hosting — get an instance live on a €5 box in minutes.
- Federation — how your instance talks to Mastodon, PeerTube and Bluesky.
- On Cloudflare — the same codebase, deployed to the edge instead.
The one idea
One codebase, runs anywhere. The exact app that powers highseas.social runs on a plain Linux box or on Cloudflare Workers — no rewrite, no lock-in. You choose where it lives, and you can change your mind later.
